365 Project | Day 59

Behold - the clicker for our HD cable box. Welcome to the 21st century!

Home again, home again

Kim spent most of this week in Atlanta at a conference. While she got to see some neat things (Centennial Olympic Park, World of Coke, Georgia Aquarium) and attend various conference sessions, it's good to be home. And it's even better to not have any more travel dates on the calendar! The trip home was a bit of a pain, though, thanks to the snow storm on the east coast. Her flight (coming in from La Guardia) was delayed for quite awhile, and then she had to deal with a snowy/icy/sleety drive home. Oh well!

Eric had a low-key week while Kim was gone - work and Peanut kept him busy!

We had a nice quiet weekend, just relaxing and catching up on things. Got our taxes finished (just need to be submitted), did laundry, found curtains for the den (though we need to add a bit of fabric to make them the right length), watched a movie and got a new cable box (oooh, HD cable now.)

Current gas price: $2.51/gallon

Peanut was pretty tuckered out last night - I caught him mid-yawn with his teddy bear.

As part of the conference, we toured the World of Coke and the Georgia Aquarium (work related field trips - how fun!).

It was another field trip week...and here are the pictures from my trip. First - the fountains at Centennial Olympic Park. It's hard to tell from this picture, but the fountains are in the shape of the Olympic rings.

Uneventful

Parts of the week seemed to crawl, but this weekend certainly seemed to fly by. Of course, the weekend was the part that went too quickly, and I don't think either of us is ready for it to be Monday yet!

Not much exciting to report during the week, but Kim was definitely glad when Friday arrived since she had worked for 12 days straight! She also got her haircut on Friday afternoon, and is excited to have something with a little more style and shape.

After work on Friday, Eric met up with several work friends (some of whom were in town from other offices). Then on Saturday, the same group headed to the ski slopes for tubing, skiing and snowboarding. I think some of them ended up more sore than others! While they were out in the cold, Kim met her mom for lunch and worked on her 2009 scrapbook (almost done with October - hooray!).

Today, we watched the Flyers lose (ugh), and then we went to see the Valentine's Day movie and go out to dinner.

I think Peanut sums up the feeling best - is it Sunday night already!?

Clementine oranges are so tasty. (It's cold and dark outside after the Flyers game, so you're stuck with fruit pictures. I'm sure you'll live.)

I had a bunch of these wooden cars when I was little (all made in England). For some reason, I still have one of them, and it sits on the bookshelf.

As for the trip home...it was full of snow. Our flight was delayed an hour, and it was past midnight by the time I got home. At least we made it back safely!

On Saturday, we drove by the arch. St.Louis apparently has the second largest Mardi Gras party in the world, so downtown was packed...and a picture from the car window was the best I could do.

We got another 5ish inches of snow today - gotta love February in the Midwest! But the snow did make for a picturesque scene - our neighbor's fence, with snow-capped tips and evergreens in the background.

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday

Wow - what a great Super Bowl game. And more importantly, Eric's Super Bowl jinx appears to be broken! Granted, he didn't really care which team won (he said he was rooting for "the offense"), but if forced to pick between the two, he would have picked the Saints. Our friends Julia and Tony joined us to watch the game, and we had a great time eating (okay, pigging out), talking and cheering.

The rest of this weekend was pretty busy, too. Yesterday, we went hoarse at the Dayton vs. Xavier game (see photo post below) and then met Melissa, Dave and Addison for dinner. It was great to see them for awhile- even if Addison was a bit overtired! And on Friday night, we braved the snow storm to go to a comedy club. The comedian was absolutely hilarious, and I'm pretty sure we laughed every single second of the show.

And moving backwards in time...Kim got home from a work trip on Tuesday, which is why you didn't get a blog post last week. She was in Chicago for the weekend, and the trip seemed productive. Don't worry though, Kim's parents fed Eric last weekend, so he didn't starve!

Current gas price: $2.57/gallon.

365 Project | Day 37

Well, you're probably in for multiple photos today - it's been a busy one! This morning, we woke up to about 6 inches of snow (guess those weather people were right after all), and the branches on one of our trees were so heavy, they were actually touching the ground. But, it is pretty picturesque!

1/3200 | 50 mm | f/2.2 | ISO 200 | Warmer and Boutwell Magic Glasses

After a lot of shoveling and branch shaking, we were able to get out of the house, which is good since today was the big Dayton vs. Xavier game. It was also a "white out" game, which was incredibly appropriate, given the weather.

365 Project | Day 36

The weather channel has been predicting an apocalyptic snow storm for today/tomorrow. Of course, today's nearly over, and we've only gotten 2 inches - but they still claim we're going to get 6-10 (though I doubt it). This morning we mostly got just rain and sleet...but it looked pretty on our patio.

And on to stop two (and presentation two!) of the trip. It was freezing cold outside, but I stopped to take a picture of this really neat waterfall outside of the hotel. The top layer was iced over, but water was still running underneath.
