Well, apparently last week got away from us. Sadly, we didn't even realize we forgot last week's post until Wednesday...at which point we decided to just wait until today. So here's what we've been up to for the past 14 days:
Last week was a blur. We met our friend Danielle for dinner on Wednesday night and had a good time catching up with her. That weekend, our friends Kelly, Tyler, Ashley and Joe came in from out of town (Chicago and Milwaukee). We, along with Mike, Erin and baby Leah, spent all day together. Unfortunately the pumpkin patch we'd planned to visit no longer exists. We found another place that had pumpkins, but we had to do without the haunted hay ride and corn maze. *sigh*. Oh well - the best part was getting a chance to hang out!
This week was really busy with work. We're both counting the days until Thanksgiving (just a month from now!) so we can get a break for a few days. Kim got stitches for the first time in her life (she got three, since that's apparently the follow-up question everyone asks). And don't worry, it wasn't for anything exciting.
Eric's parents came to visit for the weekend, and we've enjoyed spending time with them. It's hard to believe it's been several months since we've actually seen each other! We went out to dinner at a Mexican restaurant we'd been wanting to try on Friday. On Saturday, we ran a few errands and took Peanut to the dog park. Come to find out, it was Howl-O-Ween at the dog park, so Peanut got to play with about 20 new friends. Needless to say, he was tuckered when we got home. Today, the girls went to the outlets while the boys worked on winterizing the house. Guess who got the better deal there!
And congratulations to our friends Andy and Barbi on the arrival of their daughter!

Uneventful week, but exciting news
Our biggest news of the week isn't really ours. Kim's family will be moving to town as her dad accepted a job at a local company. We're looking forward to having them nearby as we haven't seen much of them (or as much of them as we'd like!) over the past few years.
Aside from that, most of our week was pretty uneventful. We both worked a few late nights and were more than ready for the weekend to arrive.
Saturday, we started to tack down some of the loose shingles on our roof. However, it got hot really quickly so we didn't get very far. We decided to head to a local festival, which is known for food and crafts. This is one of the most popular festivals around, so we waited in a long line of cars to get there. Unfortunately, it was so hot, we didn't last very long. We did buy a Bears scarf for Peanut to wear on his collar though!
Today we started the roof work earlier. We inspected all of the roof but were unable to fix all the bent shingles. Guess we'll have to get some professionals here eventually! This afternoon, Kim went to a friend's vocal concert while Eric watched the Bears game. We're not sure what happened with their last second (literally) loss, as we had both flags flying. So, someone else is to blame for the loss today!
Guess that's about it from here!
Current gas price: $2.93/gallon.

Busy week!
October already? Guess it's time to start thinking about holiday shopping! lol.
This was a busy week for us. On Wednesday, Kim was promoted to Assistant Director. (And for those of you who watch The Office, yes she's Assistant Director...not Assistant to the Director!). She'll be doing mostly the same things, just with more responsibilities.
Thursday began a three-day session of eye appointments for Eric. He had a pre-op for LASIK on Thursday afternoon, and after being poked and prodded, found out he was a good candidate for the surgery. So, on Friday afternoon, Kim drove him to the doctor and waited while his eyes were lasered. Eric came out a bit groggy and wearing bug eyes and slept most of the afternoon and evening. However, he was super excited to wake up from his nap to find out he could read the alarm clock! Saturday morning, Eric got up super early to go back to the doctor for a post-op exam. His eyes are healing great, and while he doesn't have 20/20 vision yet, it's looking very good that he'll get there.
While Eric was at the doctor on Saturday morning, Kim oversaw the installation of our new furnace and a/c unit. The HVAC guys laughed at the size of our old unit (apparently it was infinitely too small for our house), so it's probably a good thing we got this new one in! We're also excited because we now have a digital/programmable thermostat. Hopefully that helps with regulating temperatures (and keeping costs down!) this winter.
Saturday afternoon we were able to attend a meet and greet for our niece, Addison. It was great to finally get to meet her, as well as see Melissa and Dave! Kim loved holding her, and Eric showed his great uncle skills when he changed her diaper. In fact, a whole crowd of moms gathered around to watch him change the diaper and to offer their advice. haha.

Today we got to eat lunch with Grandpa and Mary as they passed through town. It was great to spend a little time with them and hear about their trip.
As you probably know by now, the Bears won their game today. And yes, our flags were flying high (you're welcome!).
Current gas price: $3.39/gallon.
